Our Find a Doctor feature will help you locate a healthcare
professional in your area who administers Restylane® or
Perlane® treatments. Choose from three convenient search
methods to find a provider near you. Please enter your
search criteria in the fields below and click Search.

Restylane® and Perlane® are cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds).
A dermal filler is a substance injected into the skin to replace lost volume and fullness. Restylane® and Perlane® are both dermal fillers using hyaluronic acid that can have an effect on your appearance.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found in the connective tissue of the body that cushions and lubricates. Hyaluronic acid also provides volume and fullness to the skin.
The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® and Perlane® has been slightly modified to last longer than the body's natural hyaluronic acid. It's produced by a biotechnical process and is injected into the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds), to provide fullness and volume.
Restylane® and Perlane® contain no animal proteins. This may limit the risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reactions. Both products contain trace amounts of gram positive bacterial proteins and are contraindicated for patients with a history of allergies to such material. No allergy testing is required before use.
Restylane® and Perlane® require no pretesting. However, you should take a few precautions before being treated. Prior to treatment, avoid using aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements because this may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with your healthcare professional, who may prescribe a medication to minimize recurrence.
Every treatment will differ. Ask your healthcare professional for an estimate of how long the treatment will take.

A patented stabilization technology helps Restylane® and Perlane® deliver long-lasting results. Restylane® lasts for about six months.
Some Perlane® patients maintained results for up to nine months in clinical trials. In two clinical studies, the number of patients maintaining improvement with Perlane® at six months was 63% and 71%, respectively. A clinical study in Scandinavia showed improvement in 49% of patients at nine months, although assessing patients' improvement at nine months was not the main purpose of the study. Please talk to your healthcare professional about these results and about treatment duration in general. |
Restylane® and Perlane® contain stabilized hyaluronic acid, made by the same biotechnical process. The difference is that Perlane® has larger gel particles than Restylane® and is intended for deeper injection. Your healthcare professional can best determine which one is right for you.
Botox® Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A) and Restylane® are both used to correct wrinkles but in different ways. Restylane® products are cosmetic fillers injected into the skin, adding volume to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). In contrast, Botox® Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A) relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines between your eyebrows.
Restylane® and Perlane® do not contain animal proteins as some collagens do. This may limit the risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. Restylane® and Perlane® contain trace amounts of gram positive bacterial proteins and are contraindicated for patients with a history of allergies to such material. Restylane® and Perlane® do not require an allergy test and can be administered immediately, so there is no waiting for treatment.
Restylane® and Perlane® are injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultrafine needle. As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort. To increase your comfort, your healthcare professional will assess your need for pain management.
Restylane® or Perlane® procedures are customized to your specific needs, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of a Restylane® or Perlane® treatment is comparable to the cost of similar procedures. Ask your healthcare professional to provide a cost estimate based on your particular needs. If you want to enjoy a smoother, more youthful appearance for about six months, ask your healthcare professional if Restylane® or Perlane® is right for you.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you should not use Restylane® or Perlane®. Neither product should be used by people with previous bad allergies, particularly to certain microorganisms known as gram positive bacteria, by people with previous bad allergies to drugs that have required in-hospital treatment, or by people with bleeding disorders. Ask your healthcare professional if Restylane® or Perlane® is right for you.
